Eight individuals from across Atlas recently came together for a day of charity golf to support Young Lives vs Cancer.
Craig, Jack, Richard, Scott, Simon, Derek, Adam, Tony and Logan decided to fundraise for Young Lives v Cancer by taking on 72 holes of golf in one day at the King James IV Golf Course in Perth, Scotland.
The guys teed off at 6am and continued until late in the evening when a bagpiper led them to the final hole. The group managed to raise over £2,000 from sponsors, exceeding their £1,500 target.
Craig Couper, organiser and Support Operations Manager at Atlas said:
Being an avid golfer, the 72 holes of golf in a day challenge is something I’ve wanted to try for a long time. Speaking to Jack Weston and trying to arrange a game between ourselves over the summer, things quickly developed into a 72-hole challenge for charity when Scott Foster came on board.
With players coming from across the UK, I managed to get a local club on board via contacts to give us complimentary access all day to the course to increase the amount raised for the charity.
On the day we had 4 different formats which accumulated into one league table of points where Jack Weston played an excellent final round to grasp the trophy from Simon Marsden who finished in 2nd place.
We all finished the last hole together as a group of eight as we were led from tee to green by one of my local golfing mates, Martin Thomson who played the bagpipes as we all limped up the final fairway towards the green where a clubhouse full of locals came out and applauded us all off the course after completing 72 holes, 36km and 4 rounds in the space of 15.5 hours.
The money raised from this event brings the Atlas x Young Lives vs Cancer fundraising total to over £15,000.
